Re-negotiate with your energy supplier if your current repayment arrangement is unaffordable (sole name)

​Use this letter to help you negotiate with your domestic electricity or gas supplier to agree payments you can afford to cover your current energy bills and repayments on the energy debt you owe.

Use this letter if you have already got a payment plan to repay your energy debt but you need to change this because you cannot keep up with the payments. Contact us for advice before using this letter.

The payments you offer should cover your current energy bills and repayments on the energy debt you owe. If you cannot afford to pay anything towards your energy debt right now, ask your supplier to pause your debt repayment arrangement until your circumstances improve.

You can choose to send a letter in your own name or in joint names. You may have a debt in joint names, or want to write to your creditors together because you have worked out a joint budget.
